Evacuees from the Russian-occupied city of Oleshky reached Ukrainian-controlled territory

An ongoing armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine that was sparked with Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014 and escalated into a full-scale invasion in February 2022, resulting in widespread casualties, displacement and significant geopolitical consequences for Europe and the world.

An aid convoy entered Russian-occupied Oleshky and residents began leaving under a temporary local ceasefire coordinated by the United States. The operation delivered food and medicine and offered voluntary evacuation, while fighting continued elsewhere and neither side presented the arrangement as a broader peace process.
