South Korea completed its first commercial round trip to Europe through the Arctic and aims to establish regular services by 2030. Authorities anticipate shorter journeys, but consultations with Russia, sanctions sensitivities, ice conditions and insurance costs complicate the project. The trial departed with considerably less cargo than its operator had sought.
