Malaysia–Myanmar repatriation programme

Malaysia began transferring 1,476 Myanmar nationals under the first phase of a programme intended to return as many as 5,000 people. Malaysia describes the programme as voluntary, but UNHCR was denied access to those selected and warns that conditions in Myanmar do not permit safe and sustainable returns. It remains unclear whether Rohingya refugees were included.
