Multinational air-defence support for Ukraine

Poland joined Ukraine and other partners in a coalition developing a more affordable anti-ballistic missile system, reflecting concerns about the cost, availability and production capacity of existing Western systems as Russia continued using missiles and drones against Ukraine. Separately, the U.S. State Department approved a potential $2.7 billion sale covering air-defence development upgrades, equipment and services, including S-300 clone missiles, GAM-67 missiles, extended-range laser-guided air-defence rocket systems, launcher modifications and counter-drone radars. If concluded, the sale would be financed through European contributions and previously appropriated U.S. Foreign Military Financing, but remained subject to congressional review. The Polish-led development coalition and the proposed U.S. sale are related but separate initiatives.
