Palestinian election postponement 2026

Mahmoud Abbas postponed November's legislative election until 11 September 2027 and scheduled a presidential vote for the same date. He cited Israeli restrictions and security conditions, extending the absence of national elections since 2005–2006 and renewing concerns about political legitimacy.
