U.S.–China AI incident notification mechanism
The United States and China agreed in principle to develop a formal dialogue concerning artificial-intelligence risks, including a communication channel for incidents affecting national security, with further discussions expected in Shenzhen within approximately two months. The mechanism was initially presented as a U.S. proposal; subsequent reporting confirmed the two governments had agreed in principle to establish it, although its procedures, scope and launch date remained unresolved. If implemented, it would become an early confidence-building mechanism between the world's two leading AI powers.
