Medicaid and CHIP coverage for transgender youth

A federal rule announced on 11 August bars Medicaid and CHIP money from paying for puberty blockers, hormones and surgery for minors. Roughly 130,000 transgender young people on those programs live in states where the care remains legal, and attorneys general in New York and Colorado have sued.
