Third Sphere (founded 2013, formerly Urban Us) is an early-stage venture firm investing in climate hardware and deep tech. Roughly 80% of its portfolio is hardware-enabled — across energy, infrastructure, transportation, water, and the built environment — chosen for products that are simply faster, better, and cheaper, with the planetary benefit as a byproduct.
The firm is known for a capital-efficient approach it calls speedstrapping: raise a minimal strategic seed, get to revenue fast, and layer in non-dilutive capital. It publishes that thinking openly through the Speedstrap Playbook and the Climate Startup Playbook, and backs founders with hands-on coaching.
