Ethereum’s zkEVM rollout is designed so that once validators verify mainnet execution using zk-proofs, the same proofs can be reused by native zk-rollups.
Ethereum Foundation’s zkEVM rollout envisions raising the gas limit once a supermajority of validators adopt zk clients, ultimately making proof verification mandatory and replacing block re-execution.
Ethereum Foundation expects only a limited number of validators to initially adopt the new zk clients.
