BitChat’s communication model without internet is designed to support users in censorship-heavy, disaster-struck, or infrastructure-poor regions.
BitChat’s Future development aims to add WiFi support to expand on its current Bluetooth-only messaging and enable higher bandwidth for large messages and media.
BitChat’s mesh architecture allows bridge nodes to connect separate Bluetooth clusters, where messages can be relayed over a 30 meter Bluetooth range.
BitChat relies on Bluetooth mesh networking, where each device transmits messages and relays them across nearby peers to maintain connectivity without internet.
