Earlier versions of the Morpho lending protocol, including Morpho Optimizer and Morpho V1, were constrained by rigid collateral requirements, reliance on preset liquidity pools, and limited scalability tied to external lending platforms.
Morpho Labs CEO Paul Frambot stated that V2 replaces pool-based systems with an intent-based model allowing precise control over lending terms.
Morpho V2 was developed in response to DeFi infrastructure challenges, particularly the need to overcome rigid interest rate formulas and over-collateralization that limit scalability for institutional adoption.
