Germany has emerged as the front-runner in Europe’s crypto regulatory space. It accounts for 36% of all licenses issued under the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework.
However, it appears companies are still making efforts to comply with the new regulatory standards in Europe. Interestingly, the German financial regulator is leading in approval rate, with the BaFIN licensing nine out of the 25 countries. Hansen noted that this is 36% of all regulating crypto service providers on the continent
However, the adoption rate has been slower than expected. Within the first 100 days of implementation, only 15 CASPs registered under the framework. According to Hansen, that number has since increased to 25 as of May 17, with most of these MiCA licenses granted in Germany.
