Sarlat-la-Canéda
Town in the Dordogne of southwest France, at the heart of the Périgord Noir, holding one of Europe's densest ensembles of medieval and Renaissance buildings in golden stone. Preserved by a pioneering 1960s French restoration law, its lanes fill with renowned markets of foie gras, walnuts, and black truffles.
