Bergen

Port city on the fjord-cut west coast of Norway, founded around 1070 and long a Hanseatic trading hub. Its old wharf, Bryggen, lines the harbour with gabled wooden merchant houses — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — and the city serves as the main gateway to Norway's fjords.
