Murten

Bilingual lakeside town on the shore of Lake Murten in western Switzerland, encircled by some of the best-preserved town ramparts in the country, whose covered wall-walk can still be paced. In 1476 the Swiss Confederates routed Charles the Bold of Burgundy beneath these walls.
