Quebec City

Walled city above the St Lawrence River in Québec, Canada, founded by Champlain in 1608 as the capital of New France. The only fortified city in North America north of Mexico whose ramparts survive — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — its old town is crowned by the turreted Château Frontenac.
