Description
Acute mountain sickness (AMS) is a condition that can occur when you travel to high altitudes, usually 8,000 feet (2,438 meters) or higher. It causes a range of symptoms, including headache, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and difficulty sleeping. In severe cases, it can lead to fluid in the lungs (high-altitude pulmonary edema) or fluid in the brain (high-altitude cerebral edema).
