Animal Farm

A satirical beast fable written in 1943–44 and published in August 1945 after multiple publishers refused it for fear of offending Britain's wartime Soviet allies. Its instant success made Orwell famous; it won a Retrospective Hugo Award in 1996, was banned across the Soviet bloc, and remains one of the most widely taught political allegories in the English language.
